“Here we go again; the night is more active than the day. All I hear is slamming car doors, deals being made, and drunk men vomiting outside my window. Midnight to Sunrise, it doesn’t end; when does Justice step in? Or does that only exist in my Libra Soul?”

I want to talk about Drug Addiction or Substance Abuse, as This has been heavy on my mind as I have been witnessing pipes and needles on the streets in Ottawa, Ontario, in the most recent years.

Streets filled with drug dealers and drug addicts roaming the nights free, wild and untamed, as I wonder where the leaders that are meant to clean these streets up and keep our city safe.

Overdosing and Vomiting is not Attractive.

Now, I am not talking about a glass of wine, a couple of beers, or even a lit-up Marijuana joint enjoyed occasionally with mindfulness and self-awareness. I am talking about legal or illegal drugs in which a person's body becomes accustomed to the presence of a foreign substance that can no longer function properly if the substance is withdrawn.

The most common drugs available are alcohol, tobacco and caffeine; however, not all become addicted and enjoy occasionally.

According to most research, the reasons for addiction lie in the brain, where a group of neurotransmitters, such as Dopamine, carry the signals of reward and happiness to the brain, providing a feeling of satisfaction and arousal. Thus, every time these feelings are experienced, there is a desire for them once again. Once repetition is formed, that is where we see addictive traits and signs in a user's personality.

It is thought that people who become addicted to Alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, Cocaine and amphetamines take less pleasure in things they used to enjoy.

Through (PET) Brain scans of addicted people, research has shown that their brains show less response to other pleasurable pursuits, such as music, dancing, sports or other artistic pursuits. The pleasure created by whatever substance is so intense that even after years of abstinence, there are triggers that could throw that person back into relapse.

Luckily, there are Nutrient Programs that one can partake in to limit cravings, withdraw from their addictive substance, and reset the chemical imbalance in the brain.

Here are some Recommendations:

  • Eat a well-balanced, nutrient-dense diet that emphasizes fresh, raw foods.

  • Avoid heavily processed foods, all forms of sugar, and junk food. These quick sources of energy can follow with low feelings that may increase cravings for drugs.

  • Add high-protein drinks and foods to the diet.

  • Consider a fasting program under the supervision of a Nutrition Specialist.

  • Burdock Root and Red Clover aid in cleansing toxins from the bloodstream (Under Supervision)

  • Siberian ginseng helps those experiencing cocaine withdrawal (Do not use this herb if you have high blood pressure, heart disorder or hypoglycemia)

  • Valerian root has a calming effect. If used with Amino Acid Tyrosine, it can help those withdrawing from Cocaine, restoring a natural noradrenaline and adrenaline release in the body.

  • A Chinese Herb, Pueraria, has been used for centuries as a cure for alcoholism.

  • Milk thistle helps detoxify the liver.

  • Many drug users suffer from Malnutrition, as drugs rob the body of necessary nutrients. Thus, a proper supplement program needs to be implemented.

To minimize withdrawal symptoms, the dosage should be decreased gradually over a period of four weeks or longer, regardless of the drug. This cannot be done alone; it must be done with professional help.

Find Sacred Pleasure in building your Solar Willpower.

Intense pleasure-seeking desire requires higher self-awareness. We must know ourselves and who we are, confidently, morally, and ethically, to tame the beast when it rises out of control.

It takes courage and strength to take a secure stance and know what violates one's worth and self-respect.

Before we give in to our feelings and act on our impulsive desire to embody the natural biological arousals given to us by the Divine, take a moment to be clear whether our Heart is genuinely in it.
